Daniel Negreanu, one of poker’s most recognizable figures, has become the first gambling-industry ambassador for prediction market operator Kalshi. The partnership aligns the six-time World Series of Poker bracelet winner with a platform that positions itself as a regulated alternative to traditional sportsbooks.

Kalshi’s Model

Kalshi operates as a federally regulated exchange under the oversight of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). Users trade simple “yes” or “no” event contracts tied to outcomes ranging from politics and economics to sports and cultural milestones.

The company reports more than one million users and over $2 billion in completed transactions. Unlike sportsbooks, Kalshi emphasizes trading mechanics that allow customers to enter and exit positions at any time. Contracts are available nationwide and can also be accessed through platforms such as Robinhood and Webull.

Why Negreanu?

Known to fans as “KidPoker,” Negreanu was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2014 and has long been one of the game’s most visible ambassadors. In announcing his role, Negreanu said he has already been active on Kalshi.

“I’m stoked because I’ve sort of been holding this for a while because I’ve been playing on Kalshi for quite a while,” he said.

Negreanu will integrate Kalshi into his streaming content, including coverage of the final stages of the GGPoker WSOP Online series. The company expects his reach in poker and gaming circles to bring prediction trading to new audiences.

Event Trading vs. Sportsbooks

Negreanu contrasted Kalshi’s markets with traditional betting operators.

“It’s not a sportsbook. Meaning you can get better odds. You won’t get limited for winning too much. And you can trade in and out of positions even within games. And because it’s a trading market, it’s available in all 50 states.”

He pointed to both serious and lighthearted contracts he has traded.

“I got one that’s so silly. I bet ‘Will Trump ban lab-grown meat by the end of the year?’ I bet no, but I had to lay a big price, right? It’s just a lot of fun.”

He also described using Kalshi markets during the recent Buffalo Bills–Ravens game, selling and buying back positions multiple times as the score shifted.

Negreanu has suggested poker-related contracts could become part of Kalshi’s offerings. “What do poker players like to do? We like to make prop bets on a wide variety of different goofy markets. Maybe in the future … one of the things I thought about was some cool poker markets.”

He added that his participation is less about high stakes and more about entertainment. “I play Kalshi markets, where it’s not about me making a bunch of money. I’m betting $100, $250, but I sweat the markets every day. It’s just a blast.”
