The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has ordered eight online casino operators to immediately stop offering internet gambling services to residents in the state.

The MGCB issued cease-and-desist letters to the sites, which include Aussie Play, CryptoGames, FortuneJack, Hugewin Casino, My Stake Casino, Play at Harry’s Casino, RuneChat, and Slots Garden. The action is part of an ongoing effort to protect consumers and uphold the state’s regulated gaming framework.

Violating State Law and Risking Players

The MGCB determined these websites are illegally taking wagers from Michigan players without the required state authorization. Offering unlicensed gambling violates several laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act and the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act.

MGCB Executive Director Henry Williams stressed the financial danger to players. “These unauthorized websites often appear sophisticated and legitimate, but they operate outside of Michigan law,” Williams stated.

He warned that gambling on unregulated platforms puts players’ money and personal information “at serious risk.” Unlike licensed operators, these illegal sites bypass critical safeguards. These missing protections include independent game testing, responsible gaming protocols, and official channels for player disputes or self-exclusion.

Commitment to Legal Market Integrity

The enforcement action reinforces that Michigan’s legal internet gaming and sports betting markets are strictly reserved for licensed and monitored entities. The agency is working closely with the Michigan Department of Attorney General to investigate and pursue noncompliant operators. Repeat violations may lead to additional legal consequences.

Williams sent a clear message to the industry. “If you want to do business in Michigan’s gaming industry, you must play by the rules and obtain a license.” He added that every illegal site “undermines the integrity of the legal market and puts consumers at risk.” The MGCB is committed to holding illegal operators accountable.
