Betly Sportsbook Ceases Operations in Tennessee
Delaware North has officially announced the discontinuation of its Betly Sportsbook operations within the state of Tennessee. The hospitality and entertainment company is executing a strategic realignment that removes its digital footprint from the volunteer state to focus on markets where it holds physical assets. The platform will remain active for a short transition period before shutting down completely at the end of December.

Operational Timeline and Player Action
The shutdown process follows a strict schedule designed to allow users to settle their accounts. Betly will continue to accept wagers and process withdrawals through December 29, 2025.
This date serves as the final cutoff for all account activity. Delaware North has advised all Tennessee customers to initiate withdrawal requests immediately to ensure a smooth exit.
Funds currently held in Tennessee accounts will not transfer to other jurisdictions. Although Betly operates in neighboring Arkansas, the systems are legally distinct.
A player cannot access their Tennessee wallet while in Arkansas, nor can they move the balance between states. Any user wishing to continue betting with the brand in Arkansas must open a separate account and deposit new funds.
The operator has not indicated plans to automatically refund balances remaining after the deadline, making manual withdrawal the necessary player action.
The Challenge of an Online-Only Market
The primary driver behind this exit is the specific regulatory structure of Tennessee. Unlike many other states, Tennessee legalized sports betting as an online-only industry.
There are no physical casinos or retail sportsbooks within its borders. This environment neutralized Delaware North’s primary competitive advantage: the “omnichannel” approach.
Delaware North’s strategy relies on connecting digital users with physical properties. In states like West Virginia, Ohio, and Arkansas, the company leverages its casinos and gaming venues to cross-promote the Betly app.
In Tennessee, without a brick-and-mortar anchor, Betly was forced to compete solely on its digital product against entrenched market leaders like FanDuel and DraftKings.
The brand struggled to gain meaningful momentum in this crowded space since its 2022 launch.
Consolidating Regional Strengths
The retreat from Tennessee is also a geographical maneuver centered on the Southland Casino Hotel. Located in West Memphis, Arkansas, this facility is Delaware North’s flagship gaming destination in the Mid-South region.
The casino sits roughly eight miles from downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
By exiting the Tennessee digital market, the company is effectively inviting its former online players to cross the state line.

Management aims to drive traffic to the physical Southland property or encourage players to use the Arkansas version of the Betly app.
This consolidation allows Delaware North to allocate its marketing budget toward regions where it captures revenue from both mobile wagers and casino visits.
Future Operations and Platform Stability
Despite the contraction in Tennessee, Delaware North continues to expand its footprint elsewhere. The Betly platform, powered by Playtech technology, remains fully operational in Arkansas, Ohio, and West Virginia. In West Virginia, the company also operates an online casino product.
Lee Terfloth, the Vice President of Interactive Gaming for Delaware North, stated that while the company is leaving Tennessee now, it has not ruled out a potential return in the future.
For the immediate term, the focus remains on strengthening existing markets and preparing for launches in new states where the regulatory climate aligns better with their physical-first business model.
