The California Lottery has received the World Lottery Association’s (WLA) highest recognition for responsible gambling, becoming the first U.S. lottery to earn Level Four status under the WLA Responsible Gaming Framework.

Highest Recognition from WLA

The Level Four accreditation is the top tier in the WLA’s responsible gaming program and reflects adherence to the association’s strictest standards. The certification remains valid until August 2028, after which the WLA will reassess the lottery’s practices to confirm continued compliance.

Commitment to Player Protection

California Lottery Director Harjinder K. Shergill Chima said the award underscores the organisation’s focus on safeguarding players while supporting the state’s education funding.

“Our World Lottery Association certifications reflect our unwavering commitment to responsible gaming and player protection. It is a commitment California’s public schools count on so we can provide supplemental funds to support students across our state.”

The California Lottery is the first U.S.-based operator to reach this standard, placing it among a select group of global lotteries recognised for leading responsible gambling strategies.
