Fanatics Sportsbook has significantly expanded its Fair Play injury insurance policy for NBA wagers. The move extends the policy’s coverage to the first half of all NBA regular season games. This change is designed to differentiate Fanatics from competitors by offering enhanced protection for customer bets.

Fair Play Policy Extension

The Fair Play policy is an injury insurance feature intended to protect parlay bets affected by player injuries. Since its launch during the 2025 NBA playoffs, the policy has already returned over $17 million in wagers. The firm claims this update gives its customers the “most comprehensive bet protection in the sports betting industry.”

Initially, the Fair Play policy only covered injuries occurring during the first quarter of NBA games. The new extension immediately covers the entire first half of every game throughout the 2025-26 NBA regular season. Fanatics previously tested this expanded coverage during the postseason in April, resulting in over million being refunded by the end of the second playoff round.

Driving Customer Acquisition

The sportsbook is using Fair Play as a primary tool for customer acquisition. Fanatics reports that one in five new customers cites the Fair Play policy as a reason for switching to their platform.

This expansion is part of a growing industry trend toward customer-first policies. Other major operators, such as ESPN BET, have introduced similar player prop protection policies for the NFL season. By offering this superior protection, Fanatics seeks to encourage consistent bettors to move their business and build long-term loyalty.
