FanDuel debuted FanDuel Picks, a peer-to-peer daily fantasy sports pick’em game, in Alabama, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oregon, and Wisconsin.

A New Fantasy Game Hits the Scene

FanDuel rolled out FanDuel Picks, its first peer-to-peer daily fantasy sports (DFS) pick’em product, in five states on April 30, 2025.

The game, launched in Alabama, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oregon, and Wisconsin, lets players compete by picking three to six athletes and predicting if they’ll exceed or fall short of projected stats. Points stack up for correct picks, with the top scorer claiming the entry fee pool.

Unlike FanDuel’s sportsbook, unavailable in these states, FanDuel Picks targets a limited customer base, though eligibility details remain unclear.

Perfect lineups can score bigger payouts, and fans can sign up online for updates on future state rollouts.

Catching Up in Peer-to-Peer

FanDuel’s entry into peer-to-peer pick’em is a solid step, but it trails competitors like DraftKings Fantasy, PrizePicks, Betr, and Underdog Fantasy, who’ve offered similar games for years.

The shift to peer-to-peer models gained steam after 2023 regulatory crackdowns on player-vs-house pick’em games. States like Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, and New York argued these games mimicked sports betting too closely.

New York, for instance, banned traditional pick’em contests in 2023, stating they couldn’t resemble prop bets. Some operators, like those in Florida, later returned with peer-to-peer offerings after halting player-vs-house games.

FanDuel’s pivot to FanDuel Picks aligns with this trend, dodging regulatory heat while expanding its DFS reach

The 2023 regulatory shifts forced DFS operators to rethink their products, with seven states banning player-vs-house pick’em games for mimicking prop betting.

FanDuel Picks’ peer-to-peer format sidesteps these restrictions, letting players compete directly. Alabama, Arkansas, Minnesota, Oregon, and Wisconsin, where FanDuel’s sportsbook isn’t active, were strategic launch choices.
