Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI), a leading provider of testing, inspection, and certification services for the gaming industry, is slated for acquisition by Avalon Buyer Limited, a UK-based entity indirectly controlled by CVC Capital Partners plc. The deal aims to secure over 50% ownership and sole control of GLI, alongside Worldwide Laboratories, LLC and Kobetron, LLC, both U.S.-based firms in the same sector.

Details of the Planned Acquisition

Avalon Buyer Limited, backed by Jersey-based CVC Capital Partners, filed its intent to acquire GLI with Austria’s Federal Competition Authority (BWB) on July 3.

The deal encompasses GLI, Worldwide Laboratories, and Kobetron, all specializing in technical testing and analysis for gaming operations.

The BWB set a deadline of July 31, 2025, for regulatory review, with a 14-day window for stakeholders to submit concerns about the merger’s impact on their legal or economic interests.

The acquisition remains pending, awaiting approval from Austrian authorities.

GLI’s Role in the Gaming Industry

Employing over 2,000 professionals globally, GLI’s expertise spans slot machines, iGaming platforms, and sports betting systems, serving clients in 475 jurisdictions.

Worldwide Laboratories and Kobetron complement GLI’s offerings, focusing on compliance testing for gaming hardware and software. The trio’s combined capabilities make them a prime target for CVC, a private equity giant managing $200 billion in assets.
