Tennessee Fines Illegal Sportsbooks $250K
The Sports Wagering Council (SWC) slapped five offshore sportsbooks with $250,000 in fines for operating illegally in Tennessee. The crackdown aims to protect consumers and enforce state gambling laws.

SWC Targets Offshore Operators
The SWC fined five unlicensed sportsbooks:
- BetAnySports,
- Bookmaker,
- JazzSports,
- BetOnline,
- Everygame.
$50,000 each for taking bets in Tennessee without a license, violating the Tennessee Sports Gaming Act.
This brings the SWC’s total fines against illegal books to $600,000. “The SWC is exploring all avenues with its network of law enforcement to eliminate these bad actors from Tennessee,” said Executive Director Mary Beth Thomas. She warned that illegal operators take money and personal data, exposing consumers to criminal risks.
Risks of Illegal Betting
Unlike licensed sportsbooks, which follow strict rules like barring those under 21 and banning credit bets, illegal platforms skirt these protections.
They often allow crypto wagers, offer casino games like slots, or take bets on random events like coin tosses—all illegal in Tennessee.
The SWC urges consumers to check tn.gov/swac for approved operators to avoid scams. Businesses tied to these illegal books also face civil or criminal penalties.
