Andy Wright Steps Down from Fanatics Betting and Gaming
Andy Wright has announced his departure from his role as Senior Vice-President of Trading at Fanatics Betting and Gaming (FBG).
Wright, who joined Fanatics in May 2022 from KingMakers where he served as the Trading Director, has played a crucial role in expanding the company’s sports betting and gaming operations.
Milestones Under Wright’s Leadership
During his tenure, Wright oversaw significant milestones for Fanatics. Notably, he led the launch of the company’s sportsbook in January 2023, marking an entry into the market with a debut at the then-named FedExField in Maryland.
This launch positioned Fanatics as the first sports betting operator to establish a retail sportsbook inside a National Football League stadium.
Under his guidance, Fanatics expanded its footprint across the United States, venturing into the online casino space in November 2023.
Another highlight of Wright’s tenure was the strategic acquisition of PointsBet’s US business, a deal valued at $225 million.
Impact on Fanatics
In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Wright expressed his gratitude for his time at Fanatics. “I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity, and I learnt a huge amount in that time,” he wrote. “Now it’s time to recharge the batteries and spend more time with the family before finding a new venture,” added Wright.
Wright’s departure marks a significant transition for Fanatics Betting and Gaming as they continue to expand and innovate in the sports betting and gaming sectors.
His leadership has laid a strong foundation for future growth, and his successor will inherit a robust platform built under Wright’s stewardship.
