ARC and 1/ST Announce Partnership to Link UK and US Racing

28.08.2024

Arena Racing Company (ARC), a leading British racecourse operator, has teamed up with US-based thoroughbred racing and pari-mutuel wagering firm 1/ST to create new opportunities for international racehorse participation between the UK and the US.

International Racing Collaboration

The collaboration is designed to strengthen ties between UK and US racing by providing UK winners a chance to compete on major US racecourses.

As part of this initiative, winners of races like the Group 2 Betfred May Hill Stakes and the Carlsberg Danish Pilsner Flying Childers Stakes will receive free entry into high-profile races such as the inaugural California Crown race day at Santa Anita Park, set to take place on September 28.

Winners of the Betfred May Hill Stakes will be invited to compete at US tracks, while the Flying Childers Stakes winner will gain free entry into the California Crown Eddie D. Turf Sprint, which offers a lucrative prize of $750,000.

Strengthening Global Racing Connections

Brendan Parnell, Director of Media and International at ARC, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, “We are delighted to announce this partnership with 1/ST to offer the winners of two of the most high-profile races during the Betfred St Leger Festival the opportunity to take up some exciting opportunities in the USA.”

Parnell added that the initiative extends beyond the St Leger Festival, with plans to expand international participation in events like the All-Weather Championships at Gulfstream Park, building stronger connections across elite races.

Aidan Butler, President of 1/ST, emphasized the significance of this partnership in bringing UK and US racing closer together. “We’re thrilled to expand our existing partnership with ARC. Working with Doncaster and its revered St Leger Festival is truly a privilege,” Butler said.
