Betsson’s Report: 59% of American Bettors Place Wagers Every Day
Betsson, in collaboration with GambleID and Sports Handle, has released a detailed 56-page report on the current landscape of sports betting, mobile sportsbooks, and daily fantasy sports in the United States.
The report, based on extensive survey data from both operators and bettors, provides a comprehensive overview of the industry’s trends, challenges, and user preferences.
Key Findings on User Behavior
The report indicates that a significant number of sports bettors are highly engaged. 43% of respondents have downloaded five or more betting apps, and 59% bet on a daily basis.
When choosing a sports betting platform, users prioritize odds and user experience over promotions and bonuses. The main reasons for betting are the opportunity to win money and a passion for sports, rather than simply seeking entertainment.
Furthermore, football and basketball are the most popular sports for betting, followed by golf in third place. Most respondents cite The Action Network as their primary source for betting tips.
Additionally, 40% of bettors tend to withdraw some or all of their winnings, while 36% prefer to keep their winnings in their account for future bets.
The majority of respondents report monthly deposits of less than $100, with a median annual deposit of $1,000. The data also shows that betting activities peak during major events such as the Super Bowl, while the Stanley Cup Finals see the lowest deposit levels.
Brand Recognition and App Awareness
DraftKings and FanDuel emerge as the most recognized sports betting apps. However, the report highlights a surprisingly high level of awareness for bet365, despite its limited presence in the U.S. market compared to its more established competitors.
Improved speed and latency are the most sought-after features among mobile bettors. Advanced-data analytics and live streaming follow as secondary preferences.
The report also identifies point spread, moneyline, and over/under as the most popular bet types among users.
