FanDuel Ends its D.C. Monopoly with Impressive Numbers
FanDuel wrapped up its brief stint as Washington, D.C.’s sole city-wide digital sports betting provider with a recorded in June handle of $23.2 million.

Impressive Performance Metrics
During its three-month tenure as the District’s sole digital sports betting provider, FanDuel handled a total of $78.5 million in wagers, with bettors placing 1.9 million bets.
Earlier this year, FanDuel replaced the troubled GamBetDC app as the DC Lottery’s digital sports betting platform.
In comparison, the previous GamBetDC platform saw 1.3 million wagers placed between October 2023 and July 2024. FanDuel’s revenue from these bets amounted to $13 million, with the company paying $4.5 million in taxes to the city over the same period.
Temporary Shutdown and Retail Betting
FanDuel’s exclusive digital betting rights came to an end on July 15, when the DC Lottery allowed Intralot’s contract to expire. Consequently, FanDuel temporarily paused operations before relaunching through a new partnership with Audi Field.
Even as the digital landscape shifts, brick-and-mortar sports betting remains active in DC. BetMGM’s Nationals Field sportsbook, for instance, took in nearly $3 million in wagers in June, though with a low hold of 2.76%.
Caesars Sportsbook at Capital One Arena saw nearly $2 million in bets with a higher hold of 8.3%. FanDuel’s Audi Field sportsbook had a similarly low hold of 2.5%, with bettors wagering $518,871.
