Indiana Sports Betting Sees Yearly Growth Despite Monthly Decline

Indiana’s sports betting handle reached $298.2 million in June, reflecting a 33.1% increase compared to the same month last year.

Revenue Growth Amid Monthly Decline

$298.2 million in handle is 23% lower than the $361.6 million wagered in May, marking the third consecutive month of declining spending.

The Indiana Gaming Commission reported that the combined revenue from the state’s 16 retail sportsbooks and 12 sports betting apps amounted to $30.5 million in June.

This represents a 56.4% increase from the previous year but a 21.8% decrease from May’s $39 million revenue.

Popular Sports and Tax Contributions

Baseball emerged as the most popular sport to bet on in June, with wagers totaling $83.5 million. Betting on basketball also saw a significant year-on-year increase of 38.3%, reaching $33.3 million.

Sports betting operators contributed $2.9 million in taxes to the state during June.
