Iowa Sportsbooks Set New Highs with $27.5 Million in September

Iowa sports betting hit a record high in September 2024 with operators pulling in $27.5 million in revenue. That’s up from the previous state record of $26.2 million set in December 2023.

DraftKings Sets Records

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission reported the handle was $270.8 million for the month with a 10.1% hold. That’s a 10.2% increase in handle and 14.1% in revenue from September 2023. Betting was up 62.2% from August and 74.3% in revenue.

DraftKings was the clear winner in Iowa in September. The platform had $108.4 million in handle, a new state record, and $10.8 million in revenue with a 9.9% hold.

That’s the first time a mobile sportsbook in Iowa has reached $10 million in monthly winnings and over $200 million in total revenue since the sportsbook launched in the state.

FanDuel and Caesars Hang Tough

FanDuel had a big month with $64.3 million in handle and $6.9 million in revenue, a 10.8% hold. The operator has now won over $125 million in Iowa and has seen over $450 million in handle year-to-date.

Caesars Sportsbook was down from September 2023 but still hit $100 million in total revenue with $2.4 million from $25.8 million in bets.

BetMGM continued to do well in Iowa with $1.7 million in revenue from $19.8 million in bets, over $10 million in year-to-date revenue. Bet365 made its mark with an $11.3 million handle and $1.2 million in winnings, a 10.2% hold.
