Michigan iGaming and Sports Betting Reach New Heights in November

Michigan’s commercial and tribal operators have hit a new milestone in the world of online gaming and sports betting. November brought in a combined total of $209.2 million in gross receipts from internet gaming (iGaming) and sports betting, marking a 1.9% increase from October’s results.

November’s Surge in iGaming Gross Receipts

The iGaming sector in Michigan experienced its most successful month to date, with gross receipts reaching an impressive $175.3 million. This figure surpasses the previous record of $171.8 million set in March 2023. The continued upward trend of iGaming in Michigan highlights the sector’s robust growth and widespread acceptance among players.

Sports betting also showed positive results, with November’s gross receipts totaling $33.9 million. However, when looking at the adjusted gross receipts (AGR) for iGaming and internet sports betting combined, there was a significant increase for iGaming at 9.4%, while sports betting saw a 98.7% decrease compared to October 2023. Despite this, the total internet sports betting handle rose to a record $568.8 million, up 6.7% from October.

State and Municipal Financial Contributions

Operators contributed significantly to the State of Michigan’s revenue in November. Total taxes and payments amounted to $33.6 million, with internet gaming taxes and fees making up the lion’s share of $32.9 million. The three Detroit casinos also played a crucial role, paying $8.4 million in wagering taxes and municipal services fees, further benefiting the local economy.

In addition to the contributions to state and municipal funds, tribal operators reported making payments of $4.1 million to their governing bodies in November. This demonstrates the tribal gaming sector’s commitment to supporting their communities and contributing to the broader economic landscape of Michigan.
