Vermont Sports Betting Revenues Drop 22.9% in June

June was not a good month for sports betting in Vermont, as operator revenues fell by a significant 22.9% compared to May.

Vermont Sports Betting Revenues Drop Below the $1m mark

In June, sports betting operator revenues dropped below the $1 million mark, reaching $922,968, which is a significant decrease compared to the $1.2 million recorded in May.

Along with operator revenues, Vermont’s tax revenues from sports betting also declined. In May of this year, tax revenues amounted to $382,430, but in June they dropped to just $294,847.

Player wagers also fell by 20.3% compared to May, decreasing from $12.6 million to $10 million. The most popular sport in the state last month was baseball, with players wagering a total of $3.4 million. Basketball brought in wagers totaling $1.5 million, tennis $1.3 million, soccer $943,000, and hockey $232,000.

Extravagant Out-of-State Players

In June, a total of approximately 426,000 bets were placed, with an average stake of $21.76.

An interesting figure released by the regulator is the $7.5 million wagered by Vermont residents in June, while $2.5 million came from players who were temporarily in the state. Out-of-state players proved to be somewhat more extravagant, placing bets with an average value of $33.36.
